⚡ Today in 10 Seconds

Indexes up on a “new” US-Iran ceasefire. WTI slid ~3% as the war premium unwound. This morning, futures are flat; Intuit is -12% pre-market. Watch $XLK after the 8:30am PCE. Watch $XLU at 9:30am, then Nvidia at 4:20pm.

The trade: Equinix ($EQIX), the AI data-center landlord; entry $1,045-1,060 on a pullback.

🎓 Focus of the Day, Secret #9: Review Losses Harder Than Wins

Tuesday handed out both report cards: Moderna rocketed 14.4% on the first Phase 3 win for an mRNA cancer vaccine, while Dick's Sporting Goods lost 30.7% on a miss and a slashed outlook, and Intuit is down ~12% pre-market. The rocket gets the headlines; the wreck carries the information.

This market is not punishing bad quarters; it is punishing bad guidance and shaky execution, instantly. That is the tape Nvidia walks into tonight: record prices for delivery, a torch for wobbles. Study the punished names before deciding how much of tonight's binary to own.

BullBuzz Takeaway: Watch $DKS and $INTU's first bounce attempt. Bullish: a firm bid = mistakes still get funded; binaries are safer to hold. Bearish: no bid = size down before 4:20 pm.

🌡️ Volatility Watch

VIX: $15.65 (+1.69)

Stress Meter: 🟢 LOW

BullBuzz Read: A VIX under 16 into an Nvidia print, a PCE morning, and Jackson Hole means index options are priced for calm. Calm is not safe: single-stock risk is hot (see $DKS), it just isn’t spilling into the index yet. Hedges cost the least right before they are needed; if you want protection through tonight, buy it while the market yawns.

🔔 Heading Into the Open

  • The tape: All three indexes rose Tuesday; S&P 7,677.28, Dow +0.3%, Nasdaq +0.7%.

  • The chase-back: $NVDA +2.2% snapped a seven-session slide; Marvell and AMD rebounded with it.

  • Caution flags: Consumer confidence hit a seven-month low, 89.4; Canada set retaliatory tariffs for September 8.

Bird's Eye: Nearly all of Tuesday's S&P gain came at the opening bell. That is positioning ahead, not conviction.

Ground Level: Money still rotated defensively, utilities led while staples and energy fell; the Moderna readout lifted the whole mRNA complex.

Under The Hood: July PCE (core consensus 3.3%), durable goods, and the second Q2 GDP estimate land at 8:30 am; Nvidia ~4:20 pm, Salesforce and CrowdStrike today too.

BullBuzz Takeaway: Watch $QQQ against Tuesday's 710.60 close after PCE. Bullish: cool PCE, $QQQ holds above = carry risk into the print. Bearish: hot PCE, $QQQ loses 706 = the market is de-risking; follow it.

🎯 Idea of the Day

Equinix ($EQIX): The Landlord Of The AI Boom

Equinix is the world's largest data-center REIT: 282 facilities across 77 markets where clouds, carriers, and enterprises rent space, power, and connections. Q2 beat and raised (revenue $2.63B, AFFO $11.78 vs $11.25 expected), its largest guidance raise ever, on AI demand.

The mechanism: tonight decides which chip stocks win; the landlord gets paid either way. Classified as real estate, not tech, EQIX collects the AI buildout without the AI multiple, and this week's falling long-end yields are a direct REIT tailwind. The street's average target sits near $1,235.

The catch: a hawkish Warsh reversing yields Friday would hit REITs fast, hence the tight stop.

  • Entry: $1,045.00-1,060.00 (buy the reclaim; do not chase above $1,090)

  • Stop: $1,020.00 (~3.8% below the zone top, under the Aug 25 low of $1,027.94)

  • Target 1: $1,108.00 (the Aug 17-18 shelf)

  • Target 2: $1,150.00 (measured move to fresh highs)

  • R:R: ~1.7:1 to T1, ~3.0:1 to T2

  • Timeframe: 3-6 week swing · Last: $1,073.44 (Aug 25 close)

BullBuzz Takeaway: Watch the $1,045-1,060 zone on any post-Nvidia dip. Bullish: $EQIX holds it while tech wobbles = take the entry. Bearish: a close under $1,020 = the base failed, stand aside.

🚀 What's Ripping

$MRNA (+14.36%): Closed $158.83, the S&P's best, on Phase 3 proof that its personalized melanoma vaccine with Merck works, a first for mRNA in cancer. How to play: After a 14% pop, chasing is donating; buy pullbacks, not headlines. Coattails: $MRK, $BNTX, $ARCT, $CRSP.

$SMCI (+9.35%): Closed at $38.46 on a new Cisco AI-infrastructure partnership. How to play: Headline risk both ways into tonight; tighten stops rather than add. Coattails: $CSCO, $DELL, $HPE.

BullBuzz Takeaway: Watch whether $MRNA holds $150 on its first red day.

Bullish: shallow dip = real rerating, the complex has legs.

Bearish: fast give-back = one-day pop, skip it.

💀 What's Wrecking

$DKS (-30.68%): Closed $124.31 on a Q2 miss, a slashed outlook, and a struggling Foot Locker integration. How to play: Never knife-catch a guidance cut; wait for a multi-day base. Coattails: $ASO, $NKE, $LULU.

$ALB (-5.89%): Closed at $133.18 after JPMorgan cut its target to $140 from $160 on weak commodity pricing. How to play: Lithium names are price-takers; avoid until the metal stabilizes. Coattails: $SQM, $LAC, $FMC.

BullBuzz Takeaway: Watch $XLY vs $SPY.

Bullish: $XLY stabilizes despite DKS = company-specific damage.

Bearish: $XLY keeps lagging = the consumer crack is spreading, favor defensives.

🔮 Prediction Markets

Decision night: Monday's logged market, whether Nvidia's fiscal Q2 data center revenue tops $85 billion, resolves after the close and is graded tomorrow. Only Polymarket carries this exact trade, with its crowd pricing 78.5% YES. Our read goes even further, leaning YES 86%.

BullBuzz Takeaway: Watch the after-hours reaction, not the revenue line.

Bullish: a beat that HOLDS past the call = the AI trade reloads Thursday.

Bearish: a beat that fades red = expectations peaked; tighten everything AI-adjacent.
