⚡TODAY IN 10 SECONDS

US markets were shut Monday while attacks on Saudi energy sites pushed WTI near $94 and Brent toward $100, so today's open prices four days of risk at once.

The trade is Cheniere Energy ($LNG) on a $278 to $283 pullback, because it fell on an S&P 500 snub while a fifth of world LNG supply sits offline.

FOCUS OF THE DAY

Secret #1: Master Yourself Before The Market

A long weekend does not pause the news, it stores it. Since Friday's close, Iran threatened to act over a US missile upgrade, Saudi energy sites were hit and partly shut down, Canadian tariffs went live at midnight, and China reported exports up 25%.

None of it could be traded until 9:30 today, so four days of headlines compress into one opening print. That is where discipline gets tested: fills are poor, spreads are wide, and the first move is often reversed by lunch. Your edge is not being faster than the news, it is being slower than the crowd reacting to it.

Find all 10 Secrets to Success at the bottom of today's issue.

📰 HEADLINES

  • Attacks on Saudi energy sites pushed crude toward $100. Saudi Arabia halted some southern operations after several facilities were hit and caught fire, and Iran warned it will act against any threat "even before it is carried out." WTI traded near $94 and Brent near $98.50 early Tuesday, gasoline above $4, diesel at a record.

  • Qatar extended its LNG force majeure into October. Roughly 10 billion cubic feet a day, a fifth of global LNG supply, has been offline since a Qatari tanker was attacked in late July. Empty Qatari carriers are heading back toward the Gulf, hinting at a restart, but Pakistani and Bangladeshi buyers are still being cancelled.

  • Canada's retaliatory tariffs took effect after midnight. Prime Minister Mark Carney let them go live after talks collapsed last month, stacking a second price shock on oil. Separately, China's August exports rose 25% and imports 28.2%, ahead of a Trump and Xi meeting set for late September.

🎯 IDEA OF THE DAY

Cheniere Energy ($LNG): The Index Said No, The Cargo Market Said Yes

Cheniere is the largest US exporter of liquefied natural gas. It chills gas into a liquid at two Gulf Coast terminals, Sabine Pass and Corpus Christi, then ships it to European and Asian buyers on long contracts. It closed Friday at $292.00 and sold off after the bell.

S&P said Friday that Bloom Energy, Illumina and Everpure will join the S&P 500 on September 21. Cheniere, widely expected to make it, did not. That is a committee decision about passive fund flows, and it says nothing about cargo: Qatar has been largely out of the market since July, while Cheniere brings roughly 2.4 billion cubic feet a day of new export capacity online this year.

Cheniere next reports in early November, outside the window: no earnings binary.

🔔 HEADING INTO THE OPEN

  • Bird's Eye: Crude is up about 3% while gold sits flat near $4,396 and bitcoin is lower. That mix prices in a supply shock, not a flight to safety, and argues for owning the energy input, not the generic war hedge.

  • Ground Level: Software is being de-rated on guidance, not results. UiPath beat on revenue Friday and still lost 16.63%, because next quarter's growth guide landed near 8%, half the pace it just delivered. Oracle and Adobe face the same jury Thursday.

  • Under The Hood: Nothing scheduled today, then PPI Thursday and CPI Friday, both 8:30 AM ET. Oil is the swing variable now: gasoline over $4 and record diesel feed straight into the energy line, so a hot headline with a tame core is the likeliest outcome.
