Good Morning BullBuzzers!
“He who conquers himself is the mightiest warrior.”
⚡TODAY IN 10 SECONDS
Wholesale prices jumped 6.3% from a year ago, yet the 10-year yield fell 9 basis points to 5.10%, and the Dow gained 1.1% Thursday while chips fell an eighth straight day, with futures mixed this morning.
Today’s idea is Toll Brothers ($TOL), a luxury homebuilder, with import prices at 8:30 AM and monthly options expiry.

FOCUS OF THE DAY
Secret #1: Master Yourself
Thursday tested self-control. Chips fell an eighth straight day, so the urge to bottom-fish was loud, while a 6.3% PPI made selling feel smart. Yesterday’s ideas show the cost of reacting: $WMB hit its $70.80 stop and was exited by rule, and $MRK filled and ran within $0.16 of Target 1 before fading.
Mastering yourself means the plan, not the mood, picks the trade. Write down entry, stop, and size before the open, and do not change them because a candle scares or excites you.

📰 HEADLINES
Wholesale inflation surges. September PPI rose 1.3% on the month against 0.5% expected and 6.3% from a year ago, while core jumped 0.7%. Retail sales rose 0.8%, but only 0.2% without gas. (Schwab, Babypips, Yahoo Finance)
Bonds ignore the hot data. The 10-year yield fell about 9 bps to 5.10% and the 30-year about 10 bps to 5.43%, lifting homebuilders and retailers. The Dow rose 1.1%, the Russell 2000 1.4% and the Nasdaq 0.1%. (TheStreet, Yahoo Finance, Vantage Markets)
Chips extend their slide. The chip index fell an eighth straight day, and Korea’s Kospi fell 8% Thursday before bouncing 2% overnight. TSMC posted a record profit but slipped about 2% on a margin dip, while CoreWeave rebounded 5.9%. (Yahoo Finance, TheStreet, Investrade)
Oil climbs on supply risk. WTI settled more than 3% higher after a large US crude draw, and Brent sits near $105 to $106 as Hormuz attacks continue. Washington is weighing easing sanctions on shadow-fleet tankers. (Reuters via Business Recorder, Vantage Markets, Investrade)
Proofpoint buys Varonis. Thoma Bravo’s Proofpoint will pay $49.75 a share in cash, about $6.3 billion, a 17% premium to the September 1 close. Closing is expected in the first half of 2027. (Varonis SEC filing, Investrade, Bloomberg Government)
🎯 IDEA OF THE DAY

Toll Brothers builds luxury homes for move-up, empty-nester, and active-adult buyers across the US.
Why this name? Homebuilders bounced Thursday as the 10-year fell, and $TOL’s affluent buyers are often less rate-sensitive, so it can hold up better if yields stay high. It bounced after probing a three-month low of $128.44 on Wednesday, and its next report is expected in December, outside the window.
The honest risk is the 10-year is still 5.10% and December hike odds are high, so a yield spike would hit builders first.

🔔 HEADING INTO THE OPEN
Bird’s-Eye: Futures are mixed after Thursday’s rebound and chips remain the weak link, so the index bounce proves little. Do not chase green on expiry Friday; wait for 8:30 import prices and the first 30 minutes before adding risk. Warsh gave no hint on October, so keep rate risk in every position.
Ground Level: Truist missed estimates ($1.16 vs $1.21) while Citizens beat ($1.41 vs $1.39), so do not trade regional banks as one group. Favor the beat with a bigger buyback over the miss, and size small until the first hour sorts the winners.
Under The Hood: Import prices and industrial production at 9:15 test whether Thursday’s PPI is spreading. Expiry can pin or whip $SPY near round strikes, so use limit orders and smaller size. If the 10-year climbs back above 5.20%, expect Thursday’s builder and retail bounce to fade first.
