Good Morning BullBuzzers!
"Stocks are passengers. The theme drives the bus."
⚡TODAY IN 10 SECONDS
S&P 500 futures are down about 0.2%, and Nasdaq 100 futures are flat after Thursday's AI rout (S&P 500 -1.2%, Nasdaq -2.6%, chip index -6.7%) pushed the 10-year yield under 5%.
Today's idea is Morgan Stanley ($MS), a cheap financial that has not joined the rotation yet.

FOCUS OF THE DAY
Secret #5: Trade The Theme, Not The Ticker
Thursday was one theme wearing many tickers. Meta beat on revenue, Lam Research warned of supply limits into 2027, Nvidia's CEO said neoclouds lack the cash to fund growth, and CoreWeave fell 10%, so the Philadelphia chip index lost 6.7%, its biggest drop since June 23.
Different companies, one message: investors doubt the return on AI spending, so the theme sold everything attached to it. The mirror theme was safety, with staples up 3.3%, utilities 2.1% and the 10-year yield down 19 basis points. Pick the theme first, then the ticker, and know which side you hold.

📰 HEADLINES
AI doubts crush chips. The Nasdaq fell 2.6%, its steepest drop since early June, and the S&P 500 fell 1.2% as the chip index dropped 6.7%. Intel, AMD, Sandisk and Marvell each lost more than 8%.

The 10-year slips under 5%. The Treasury par curve closed at 4.96%, down from 5.13%, the first close below 5% since Sept 22. Traders still price roughly 78% to 85% odds of a December hike and about 91% for an October hold.

Brent settles at $113.17. Crude rose 4.0%, its highest close since May 4, as Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia forced Aramco to evacuate its Dhahran headquarters. WTI settled at $99.47, and Brent traded near $114.50 early Friday.

Meta falls 7% despite a beat. Revenue was $64.6 billion (up 26%), but free cash flow turned negative at $2.12 billion and 2026 capex guidance is $135 to $145 billion. Meta also plans a two-for-one split using nonvoting shares, and the stock closed at $648.85.

Anthropic's S-1 may land today. Yahoo Finance, citing three people familiar, says the public filing could come as soon as Friday for a raise of up to $100 billion.

🎯 IDEA OF THE DAY

Morgan Stanley is one of the largest U.S. investment banks and wealth managers, with $10.5 trillion in client assets, a 2.5% dividend yield and a forward P/E near 13.8.
Money is leaving AI hardware for value, yet $MS sits about 21% under its $232.25 high and about 9% under its 50-day average ($201.64). Q3 on Oct. 14 showed record wealth revenue of $9.1 billion, equities revenue up 41% and a 22.6% return on tangible equity. The stock has traded between $176 and $187 since then.
Brokers trade like the Nasdaq when AI financing sours: $MS fell 1.6% Thursday while the financial sector rose 1.1%, and a second leg down in tech takes it under the zone. It reported Oct. 14, so no earnings binary sits in the window.

🔔 HEADING INTO THE OPEN
Bird's-Eye: Futures are flat to slightly lower after Thursday's rout, with the 10-year near 4.96% and Brent near $115. A bond rally is a safety bid, not a Fed pivot; December hike odds still sit near 80%. Do not buy the first chip bounce; wait for $SPY to hold $764 for 30 minutes.
Ground Level: Rotation is concrete: P&G rose 5.6% and Lockheed 7.0% while chips fell 6.7%. This morning Crown Castle is up about 13% on a Bloomberg report that SpaceX wants 80,000 cell sites, while Newmont is down about 2% despite a beat. Lean toward staples and defense, and skip knife-catching in semis until the open settles.
Under The Hood: Flash PMIs hit at 9:45 AM and Michigan sentiment at 10:00; Exxon, SLB and American Express report. Next week is the real test: the Fed decides Wednesday at 2:00 PM, Microsoft and Alphabet report that night, and PCE and Amazon follow Thursday. Keep size modest into the Fed.
