⚡TODAY IN 10 SECONDS

Lula beat the market favorite in Brazil; U.S.-listed Brazilian stocks are gapping down 20% or more, and S&P 500 futures are up about 0.2% with the 10-year at 5% and Brent near $115.

Today’s idea is Bloom Energy ($BE), a power name that has washed out 45% from its high.

FOCUS OF THE DAY

Secret #7: Build A Process, Not Predictions

Friday, Polymarket and Kalshi priced Flavio Bolsonaro near 76% to win Brazil, and a Datafolha poll showed a tie. Lula won 51.78% to 48.22%, and the iShares Brazil ETF is down about 25% this morning.

Nobody who sized for the favorite was foolish; they were unprepared for the other 24%. A prediction gives you a direction. A process tells you what you lose if you are wrong before you act. Set size, exit, and reason before the event, not after the gap.

📰 HEADLINES

  • Lula wins, Brazil sells off. Lula took 51.78% of the vote to Flavio Bolsonaro’s 48.22%, a surprise against a market positioned for a Bolsonaro win. The Brazil ETF is down more than 24%, Petrobras about 21% and Nu about 25%, and Bolsonaro has not conceded.

  • The 10-year sits at 5% into Fed week. The Treasury par curve closed Friday at 5.00%, up 4 basis points, while Michigan sentiment came in at 48.0 with one-year inflation expectations up to 4.7%. The Fed is expected to hold Wednesday, but a December hike is priced near 75%.

  • Brent holds near $115 on unconfirmed Houthi claims. The Houthis say they hit Aramco’s Yanbu site and the Rabigh refinery, but Saudi Arabia has not confirmed damage. Brent settled Friday at $116.72, its highest close since April 29, and trades near $114.60 this morning.

  • Musk warns of a neocloud shakeout. He said more than 200 neoclouds face consolidation as debt markets tighten, and CoreWeave, Nebius and IREN fell in early trading. CoreWeave’s five-year credit default swap sits at 1,129 basis points, above the 1,000 distress line.

  • Fed, Big Tech and PCE share one week. The Fed decides Wednesday at 2:00 PM ET and Microsoft and Alphabet report that night, among 176 S&P 500 companies this week. Amazon and Intel follow Thursday, alongside GDP and core PCE.

🎯 IDEA OF THE DAY

Bloom Energy makes solid-oxide fuel cells that power data centers on site, and reported record third-quarter revenue of $1.2 billion, up 138%.

Why this name. The neocloud warning is today’s loudest theme, and Bloom sits on the power side of it. It raised 2026 revenue guidance to $4.4 billion to $4.6 billion, yet fell 8.7% Thursday and 11.2% Friday to $193.30 because free cash flow turned negative $181 million. That leaves it about 45% under its $351.28 high, at the late July and August lows.

Beta is near 3.8, and the stock sits below its 50-day ($248) and 200-day ($219) averages, so one more neocloud credit scare could run it through the stop. It reported Oct 22, so no earnings binary sits in the window.

🔔 HEADING INTO THE OPEN

  • Bird’s-Eye: Futures are up about 0.2%, but the 10-year sits at 5.00%, Brent near $115, and Brazilian ADRs are down 20% or more. Stocks are rising on thin conviction into the Fed, so do not chase green. Wait for $SPY to hold $760 for 30 minutes.

  • Ground Level: Brazil is the loudest dislocation, with Nu, Petrobras and MercadoLibre gapping lower, while Friday’s tape rewarded energy (+2.6%) and punished staples (-1.9%). A panic gap in a real business is for watching, not blind buying. Let the first hour set a low.

  • Under the Hood: Verizon reports before the open, and Nucor, Cadence, and Welltower after the close. Tuesday brings Israel’s election, and the Fed decides Wednesday at 2:00 PM, with Microsoft and Alphabet that night. Cut anything you cannot hold through a hawkish press conference.
