Chips fell 7%, and the Nasdaq-100 lost 3.5% Friday after Intel’s worst day since 1974, yet energy, staples, and utilities rose, and the 10-year eased to 4.93%.

S&P futures are up about 0.4% ahead of ISM at 10:00, Apple and Palantir tonight, and Tuesday’s midterms, with Procter & Gamble ($PG) in focus.

FOCUS OF THE DAY

Secret #9: Review Losses Harder Than Wins

Friday was a loss-review day. Intel fell 28.6%, its worst session since 1974; the chip ETF $SOXX dropped 8.2%; and the Nasdaq-100 lost 3.5%, while two of our own open ideas, $HUBB and $CIEN, hit their stops. Wins feel like skill and losses feel like bad luck, so most traders skim the red and move on.

The useful question is whether the loss came from the plan or the tape: both stops fired exactly where we said they would, so the system worked. Write down what each thesis assumed, what changed, and whether the size was right, then reread that note before the next entry.

📰 HEADLINES

  • Intel posts its worst day since 1974. Shares fell 28.6% after a fourth-quarter revenue forecast of $15.0 billion to $16.0 billion, well under the roughly $17.3 billion expected, and the chip index lost 7.2%. Intel also expects the PC slowdown to continue.

  • Gold hits a one-year low as hike fears build. December gold fell 3.3% to $3,898.90 while the Fed held at 3.75% to 4.00% with two dissents for a hike. Higher-for-longer rates make a metal that pays no interest less attractive.

  • Binance loses $6.3 billion in a record crypto hack. Attackers drained its hot wallets, and Binance set aside $6.34 billion to cover users. Bitcoin dipped to about $76,400 before steadying near $78,000.

  • Oil slips on Iran talks. Brent is near $110 as Qatar-mediated talks continue and Trump says he will not strike before the Nov. 3 midterms. Tehran still keeps the Strait of Hormuz shut.

    (Trading Economics, Al-Monitor)

  • A packed week tests the AI trade. Apple and Palantir report tonight, AMD Tuesday, and the October jobs report lands Friday with about 63,000 jobs expected. The Fed’s December hike odds sit near 70%.

🎯 IDEA OF THE DAY

Procter & Gamble is the world’s largest household-products maker, selling Tide, Pampers, Gillette, and Crest across ten categories that people rebuy whatever the economy does.

Staples gained 1.4% Friday while chips collapsed, and PG is the cleanest large-cap version of that bid. On Oct 22 it beat, with organic sales up 4.0% against a 1% to 3% full-year guide and core EPS of $2.00 against $1.94, then rose 5.6% while the S&P fell 1.2%. It has since pulled back to the $158 shelf and is turning up again.

Management warned of materially higher second-quarter costs and assumes Brent at $100, so $110 oil squeezes margins, and an AI bounce could pull money out of staples. Next earnings are late January, outside the window.

🔔 HEADING INTO THE OPEN

  • Bird’s-Eye: S&P futures are up about 0.4% after Friday’s 1.8% drop, so expect a bounce attempt, not a recovery. Do not chase it, because relief rallies after a 7% chip drop often stall at the first resistance. Keep size at half until Apple and Palantir report tonight.

  • Ground Level: Intel, Reddit and Roblox are oversold but not stabilized, so skip catching them until each holds Friday’s low for 15 minutes. Energy and staples are where the money landed, so buy their pullbacks instead of new highs.

  • Under The Hood: ISM Manufacturing at 10:00 is expected at 54.7, with its prices gauge near 77, a hot input-cost read that feeds the Fed’s December debate. A prices number above 78 pushes the 10-year back toward 5%, so keep stops tight on rate-sensitive longs.

It's time to set up your holiday streaming campaign

Are you ready to reach holiday shoppers on CTV? For many streamers, the season is already underway.

Last year, according to Roku internal data, holiday content searches on Roku saw an 86% increase during October. And in November, those searches rise an average of 39% weekly. This surging holiday spirit is mirrored by consumer activity, as about half of Roku streamers shopped Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals in 2025.

Meeting those shoppers is easier than you might think. Begin with the seasonal outcome you hope to drive: awareness, online sales, leads, store visits, or another measurable goal. From there, define your audience, upload your creative, set the budget and campaign dates, and establish measurement before launching. You can even create a shoppable ad unit that lets streamers buy with a click of their remote.

Our holiday playbook offers a month-by-month guide to reaching shoppers during this all-important time of year.

First-time spenders get a $5,000 match on the first $5,000 spent with code BEEHIIV5K. Terms apply.
